EXERCISE 1
Week 2
Exercise 2 -Content Generation
In class, we looked for visual references. After class, we looked for a lot of children's picture books and flat comics for reference. We determined the main color scheme and characters: the growing me, the aging grandma and the rag doll "Tongtong".
Compared with painting with Ai, I prefer to use Procreate. It is more convenient for me to paint with an iPad pen. Then I started my artistic work.

FEEDBACK
REFLECTION
Through this stage of learning, I am very good at using Procreate for painting. In the publication design drawing, I realized that this process is not just a simple graphic drawing, but also a key step in information communication. The layout, typesetting and color selection of each element need to be carefully considered to ensure that they are in line with the theme of the content.
In design, details can add depth, but too many details may distract readers. I learned to find a balance between the whole and the details. The choice of color directly affects the reader's emotions and reading experience. I realized that the color needs to be consistent with the theme of the publication to better convey emotions. The combination of contrast and harmony can make the design visually impactful without making people feel uncomfortable.
In the typesetting process, I learned to strike a balance between innovation and standardization. Innovative typesetting can make a publication unique, while appropriate standardization can ensure readability and consistency.White space can not only reduce the crowdedness of the design, but also enhance the overall beauty and professionalism. It helps the content "breathe" in the publication design, allowing readers to have a relaxing visual experience when browsing.
Through these reflections, I have a better understanding that every choice in the publication design will have an impact on the final effect. Publishing design is an art that combines logic, creativity and emotional expression, and every decision should serve to better convey the content.
FUERTHER READING
"Grid Systems in Graphic Design" - Josef Müller-Brockmann is one of the important reference books on modern graphic design and grid systems, focusing on how to use the grid system to build a neat, unified and beautiful layout design. This book was written by Swiss graphic design master Josef Müller-Brockmann and is regarded as the foundation of Swiss design style and modern grid system.
The book explains the importance of the grid system and explores its application in various publications, advertising, exhibition design and other fields. The author Müller-Brockmann analyzes in detail how to place content in a grid structure to improve readability and information organization through visual logic. In the book, he explains in detail how to demonstrate the flexibility of the grid through a series of practical layout design examples to help readers understand how to innovate in a strict grid system. This design method not only improves the professionalism of the layout, but also helps designers to layout content more efficiently.
In addition, the book also emphasizes the application of design principles such as alignment, proportion, and white space to help readers understand how to use these elements to achieve visual balance. An invaluable resource for both beginners and experienced designers, this book provides a clear design framework that disciplines design while maintaining flexibility and beauty.
