REFLECTION
Experience：
The study of typography this semester is very important and very challenging for me. I learned that text layout is very important. It not only affects the reader’s feeling of the beauty of the article, but also the reasonableness of the layout will also affect the reader’s reading experience. Therefore, a good layout can make readers read the article more pleasantly, while also improving the quality of the article itself. Basic elements of typography. From the video after class, I learned about the basic elements of typesetting, fonts in typesetting, and the selection of typesetting tools. Finally, we completed three independent projects. Mr. Vinod distributes the content of each class very well. We have enough time to practice and complete our works, and at the same time, we can also get corresponding feedback on the homework in each class. We get feedback and can correct the current problems in a timely manner. Finally, another review of the experience and knowledge gained. . It allows us to think deeply about our actions and decisions to discover the reasons for success and failure, summarize successful experiences and lessons from failure, and discover our own strengths and weaknesses. Only on the basis of summary can we better master the skills and methods of work and improve our work efficiency.
Observation results：
After learning about typesetting, the typesetting that can be seen everywhere in life is worth analyzing and studying. Through Mr. Vinod’s explanation, I learned that one of the best ways to improve my typography skills is to observe how other designers use typography in their works. This requires constant practice and the cultivation of a discerning eye. So please always pay attention to excellent text layout. It may be a MRT notice or a label for groceries. From this, I understand that the design of words plays a big role in our lives. This is a very interesting thing.
Discover：
Before learning typesetting, the knowledge I had about layout and poster font design was very one-sided. During the 14 weeks of class, I learned a lot and gained a lot of insights. I learned about landscape layout design outside of class, but I only scratched the surface. This course is very important for me who want to study graphic design in the future. Through this semester's study, I learned about the technical details of typesetting and the typesetting rules and guidelines for widows and orphans. Through reading, I also learned how important the "weight" and proportion of text are to text layout. The design of letters requires many corrections and rigorous adjustments before they can be used. Different designs in different sizes, how to identify and choose fonts, etc. Through this semester, I came into contact with typesetting and practiced it step by step in my homework. I gradually began to love learning typesetting. I understand that typography is everywhere in life for visual effects.
