 Final Project - Animated infographic

1. LECTURES

In the first week of class, the teacher introduced us to the main content of the final project, assigned groups, and established the theme. We need to arrange the content of each week of the semester in a reasonable manner according to the progress.

2. INSTRUCTIONS

3.PROJECT

Final Project: Animated Infographic

Theme:The History of Video Games

Visualize the evolution of video games, from classic arcade games to modern virtual reality experiences, including key technological advancements and popular gaming genres.

Our task was to research the above topic in a group and break down the information provided into a timeline of multiple stories to narrate and ideate (narrate and visualize) to create an animated infographic video to express information about the issue.

Expected results:

- An animated infographic (minimum 1.5 - maximum 3 minutes of video) that introduces viewers to a given topic.

- Must include some form of data/statistics.

- Must use questioning techniques and provide answers.

1.1 Timeline

1.2 Video game data corresponding to the timeline.

My team members and I compiled a historical timeline of video games, the evolution of video games from generation to generation.

2. Storyboards and mood boards

Here's what we've compiled about video games (including their history):
Arcade->Red and White->Gameboy->Mobile->pc->vr

Emotional version of the mind map (we extracted about 15 games or video game appearance machines, system development and other information):

We found some pictures from the mood board and extracted the colors.

For the narrative of our animation content, we have made a rough framework:

A general framework for the historical process of video games:

Week 2: Script Analysis, Visual Suggestions and Mood Boards

  • Ensure that the script analysis is sufficiently detailed, including a detailed understanding of the scene and character play, in order to provide a solid foundation for subsequent visual presentation.
  • Create multiple mood boards of different styles and moods to illustrate possible visual directions and moods. This helps ensure that the entire team has a clear consensus on the visual style of the project.

Week 3: Visual sketches and animation drafts

  • Produce preliminary visual sketches and animation drafts to quickly validate concepts and designs. This helps to quickly adjust and modify possible issues or improvements before moving into formal storyboarding.

Week 4: Storyboarding and Animation

  • Maintain storyboard coherence and clarity to ensure each shot effectively conveys plot and emotion.
  • Before proceeding with brain-burning animation, conduct a small-scale test animation production to ensure that the animation style and technical selection are in line with expectations and can effectively convey the story content.

Week 5: Finalizing visuals, art direction and assets, draft animated infographic

  • When finalizing visual and art direction, ensure adequate communication and feedback with the entire team to ensure everyone has a clear understanding and expectations for the final product.
  • When creating a draft of your animated infographic, consider how best to visualize the animation and information to ensure your audience can easily understand and absorb the information.

After Mr. Shamsul feedback, we restarted our project. With the remaining 2 weeks, we need to reasonably plan the division of labor among the team members so that the results can be better presented. Our timeline of video games is too broad. Finally, after the teacher's suggestion, I finally studied Nintendo's game history (game consoles, famous games).

Our team made some modifications to the screen content and completed the AI illustrations.

We have completed the first version of the animation.

  4.FEEDBACK

week 5 :
For our narrative, it is recommended that we shorten the historical line of video games instead of telling the history of video game development. Mainly talk about one, such as Nintendo.
We must use questions ‘What, why, where, when, who and how’ into the building of your narrative before transferring the information onto your storyboard.

week 6:
We should add more elements to the video:
  • Add some audio effects to make the video more interesting
  • Each picture has a natural transition
  • The timeline should be more complete
  • story enhancement
  • Text and graphic elements:

Adding some text titles, logos, or animated graphics can help viewers better understand the video content and can also enhance the visual appeal of the video.
  • Color correction and filters:

Color correcting and adding filters to your videos can enhance the visuals of your footage, making it more vivid and eye-catching.

week 7
In our animation, there are many spelling errors that need to be corrected.
5.REFLECTION
In our final project, all of our team members happily participated in collaboration. Despite encountering many challenges, especially during the animation production process, we completed the task through efficient communication and close cooperation. Building good trust and teamwork among team members enabled us to overcome difficulties and work together to achieve our goals. Everyone contributed to the success of the project, and this positive spirit of collaboration enabled us to overcome obstacles and achieve satisfactory results.
